Steam Launch The Design The ambition was to have a small light weight launch that could easily be kept in the average garage . So ply clinker was chosen for the construction and the length made 15 ft 9". |

The half model was carved out of kauri and the lines taken of as in the above photo |

The full sized moulds were cut and the battens laid on the seams. to check that all was well with the position of the lands. With the seam battens on we get a good idea of the shape. |

The portions of the frames where the floor timbers and engine bearers are have been removed and frames 5 - 8 and 11 have been cut back to allow for the permanent frames that will be laminated around the mould, also slots for the the sides of the seat compartments have been cut out. |

Here we have the floors , engine bearers and the laminated frames in place. All faired up and ready for planking. |

Another view, this time from the bow. The bare hull at this stage is easily lifted by two people, so should be on target for an all up weight of 125 kg. |

The forward seat is in place with two turned legs to the keelson. We are ready to turn the hull over to ready the bottom for painting. |
